  1. SAVE A CHILD FROM MALARIA SCOURGE.

Teens Resource Centre a media literacy outfit based in Lagos state Nigeria is supporting malaria prevention among Nigerian school age children through is 2009 TEEN FAVOURITE AWARD, the theme of the 2009 award is MEDIA LITERACY AND MALARIA PREVENTION. The centre will be distributing 10,000 mosquito treated nets to vulnerable and children at risk to malaria. We use this medium to solicit schools world wide to become award winners in our TEEN FAVOURITE SECONDARY SCHOOLS by supporting our project. The insecticide treated nets are less than 10 dollars, schools can organize their students to raise funds for as many nets as possible, and each school that donates will have his name as the donor to the school of their choice in Nigeria. The school will also be given an award plaque as TEEN FAVOURITE SECONDARY SCHOOL in malaria eradication in Nigeria. A special photograph and story will be dedicated to the school our media literacy bulletin, local newspaper and a television programme on cable produced by the children. Schools will also have an opportunity of inviting our centre coordinator to share media literacy experiences in a challenging society like Nigeria.

We believe that your organization will use this medium to save our children from the malaria scourge, for more details on our project please type Martins Akpan media literacy Nigeria on Google or check this sites shown on the email which this letter is attached.

  2. media literacy needs to not to be treated with kids gloves in Nigeria, we are presently entering a highly informed society, we are not been able to control what our youths are consuming via the media, we are trying to be western but we find ourselves a the receiving end of both negatives, cynics, sexually suggestive messages and violence, a writer wrote a 9 year old kid who was caught in class consuming a adult content in a widely read Nigerian Newspaper, how do we solve this issue, what was on the mind of the youth who was reading sexually materials in the newspaper column which is widely read in Nigeria but the column defense is that there is byline tag for adults only, we need to be more informed and let our youths be literate on the media, media literacy becomes importance in this our world.
